Reports To: Head of Government Affairs and Corporate Communications

Summary:

We are seeking a highly experienced and strategic Director of Corporate Communications to lead communications efforts in the USA. You will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive communications strategy that enhances a Global Pharmaceutical Company which the role will support to reputation, build brand awareness, and support corporate objectives.

You will play a key role in managing internal and external communications, media relations, and crisis communications.

The pharmaceutical organisation are a leader in developing treatments for rare and ultra-rare diseases. They focus on areas where there are often few or no other treatment options available.

The Director of Corporate Communications will play a key role in the Patient Advocacy programme to support the comprehensive patient support projects, providing resources and guidance to patients.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a strategic communications plan for the US market, aligned with the company's overall business goals.
  • Oversee all aspects of media relations, including building and maintaining relationships with key journalists, influencers, and industry analysts.
  • Manage internal communications with employees across the US organization, ensuring clear and consistent messaging.
  • Develop and execute communication campaigns for product launches, clinical trial announcements, and other corporate milestones.
  • Lead crisis communications efforts, developing and implementing response plans to mitigate negative publicity.
  • Manage and mentor a team of communications professionals.
  • Develop and manage the company's corporate website and social media presence.
  • Monitor industry trends and competitor activity, identifying opportunities to enhance the company's communications strategy.
  • Track and measure the effectiveness of communication initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
  • Ideally 7-15 years of experience in corporate communications, preferably within the pharmaceutical industry or agency.
  • Proven track record of developing and implementing successful communications strategies.
  • Strong media relations experience, with a proven ability to secure positive media coverage.
  • Experience working with congress
  • Excellent writing and editing skills.
  • Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Experience in crisis communications.
  • Strong understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and the US healthcare landscape.
  • Excellent analytically and problem-solving skills.
